Financial Analyst

 

I am currently looking for a Financial Planning and Analysis Financial Analyst position.  A typical FP&A position usually deals with internal budgets, forecasting, and variance analysis (as detailed in my Nortel Networks Senior Financial Analyst position).  I will consider both a full-time, direct-to-hire, or contract position.  I am currently located in Indianapolis, IN.  I will also relocate.  Greater Dallas, TX is a city of interested.  I am not interested in any commission, insurance, or financial advisor positions.  All positions can be negotiated directly with me eliminating recruiter premiums.  Email me at mills9000@hotmail.com.

Distributor

Designing, maintaining, and generating sales through internet web sites as a distributor for Nature’s Rx  health supplements.  Developed a business plan that grew personal net income to six figures within  fourteen months of start-up.  Increased revenue and margins through: statistical analysis of product sales, adding additional strategically placed web sites, partnering with mutual web site retailers, and developing paid advertising as needed.  Responsible for all web site creation and administration, product line decisions, expenses, and tax accounting associated with the business.

 

·        Achieved Nature’s Rx highest monthly distributor sales.

ANTHEM HEALTH INSURANCE, Indianapolis, IN                                                                    1998 – 1999

Financial Analyst  (Contractor)

As a contractor, provided performance monitoring and analysis for the IT department.  Consolidated and analyzed performance data relating to the Year 2000 project in the tri-state area covering 70 locations and 13 business units. Participated in the development of the Access database.  Successfully completed the contract assignment on time.

 

·        Redesigned a four-page nine thousand-participant survey questionnaire to one page.

 

NORTEL NETWORKS, Richardson, TX                                                                                        1986 – 1997

Senior Financial Analyst  ( 1991-1997)

Performed three rotations in the Financial Planning and Analysis department at Nortel Networks, the largest telecommunication manufacture in North America:  MCI Strategic Business Unit, Private Switch Networks and North America Cellular. Responsibilities included the development of: long range and annual plans, quarterly and monthly forecasting support & analysis, cash flow analysis, monthly financial reports analyzing actual to forecast, capital planning and special projects. Prepared the finance director’s presentations (forecasts, results, key performance indicators) to the division vice president.  Designed and produced Excel, PowerPoint, and Oracle reports and charts.

·        In the last rotation, the cellular position consisted of TDMA results for North America markets.  Assumed additional responsibilities of: an added function (forecasting), an additional product (CDMA), and global markets.  Profit/Loss statements increased from eight to thirty with product revenue totaling $900M.  Two years later, these responsibilities were reconfigured over eight new full-time headcount positions.

 

Financial Analyst  (1986-1991)                                                                                                                           

Reviewed incoming sales proposals from direct and distributor channels requesting competitive bid pricing for the SL-100, DMS-250, and cellular digital switch systems.  Conducted financial modeling for purposes of testing prices and evaluating proposals.  Ensured compliance by obtaining the appropriate signature levels from key players in: sales, sales engineering, product line management and program management on multi-million dollar sales proposals.

 

ATLANTA RICHFIELD COMPANY, Dallas, TX                                                                                            

Financial Revenue Analyst

Worked in the gas revenue department managing Arco-operated gas plants.  Maintained the in-house plant accounting system (EPAS), reviewed and reconciled the plant operation schematics to the accounting system.  Responsible for timely recording of revenues, severance taxes and royalties for leases and gas plants in Louisiana and East Texas.  Organized and directed the activities of a Revenue Entry Specialist.

 

·        Managed three of the top five (out of thirty-five) Arco-operated gas plants rated for complexity by outside consultants.  Managed two of these plants at the same time (a two person workload).

·        Eliminated the need for a contract position during the last assignment by streamlining procedures.

·        Reduced the number of out-of-balance A/R accounts by seventy-five percent (from 120 accounts to 35).

 

EDUCATION & TRAINING

 

·        B.S. Degree in Business/Finance – Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.

·        Completed a three day leadership seminar rated by the Wall Street Journal as one of the top five seminars of its type in the country.

·        Completed a basic/advanced course on Hyperion Essbase Add-in for Excel.

·        June 2007 completed Microsoft Excel and Access skills tests at Robert Half’s testing facility.  Scored at the “advanced” level.
